The more people who visit your shop, the more money you can make. Anyone who walks in the door has already partially made the mental decision to spend money. You and your team just need to get them over the finish line. Before you can do that, though, you need to know how to attract more business to your shop in the first place.

Host A Free Class Or Seminar:
People love learning new skills if it makes their lives easier or better, but they’re honestly more inclined to do it if they can learn those skills from authoritative sources. Doing it for free makes it even more alluring. Home improvement stores are known for running weekend workshops for free, and they do it because most people attending the class tend to stick around after and buy what they need for what they just learned.
Run A Direct Mail Campaign:
If your store relies on local consumers for foot traffic, then run a direct mail campaign to homes in your geographic area. Send out a flyer or coupon that draws their interest. A postcard might be best because they’ll automatically read it when looking at it. Something in an envelope can be thrown away without ever being opened first.
Use A Booth Display:
Put up a backlit exhibit booth display near your front door. You might have a lot of people wandering by your front windows and thinking about walking in, but they might actually be nervous about it. Something very elaborate, well-illuminated, and eye level will catch their attention. It’s a chance for them to come in and put their attention on something without having to walk up to a staff member or sales clerk, but you can certainly approach them after a minute.
Have An Employee Discount Day:
Do you offer your employees a discount on your shop’s products or services? If so, then you might want to designate one day a month as an employee-discount-for-everyone every day. Let all your customers on that day buy anything and everything at the employee rate. Soon enough, you’ll have people looking forward to that day of the month.
More Business Is Always Good Business:
Measuring the success of a shop can happen in different ways. Some managers and owners emphasize getting their average transaction amount higher, and that can mean making more money. However, the surest way to success is just getting more people in your shop to start with.
Whatever you decide to do there will always be varying levels of success with each path you take. You cannot expect each event or method to attract an exact percentage of business to your store. Remember that typically the first year is the most difficult for a lot of businesses, and that is ok. The goal is to progress each day, even by one sale, one visit, one repost.
